LOYOLA CATHOLIC SCHOOL WILL ENHANCE OUR FACILITIES, IMPLEMENT OUR 1:1 INITIATIVE

AND CONTINUE TO STRIVE FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE.

Imagine a school where the notebook a student carries is not spiral bound but a state-of-the-art laptop computer designed specifically for student learning.  A key initiative of the Loyola Catholic School    Capital Campaign will move this vision to reality and create a wire-less environment where students will reach out to the world through digital technology.  The students of today have lived in a digital world their entire lives and we as educators must embrace their future and find ways to teach beyond textbooks.

The 1:1 technology initiative is a bold attempt to create a learning environment, which levels the playing field of education for all Loyola students, and prepare our students for life beyond Good Counsel Hill. The 1:1 initiative will provide:

  • Apple Mac Books for all students in grades 7-12
  • Laptop computer carts for K-6 classrooms
  • Creation of a Technology Integrationist position to assist teachers, students, and parents, and also provide extensive professional development for teachers

Loyola is very blessed to have two campuses, the Fitzgerald building and the facility at Good Counsel to call home.  These two buildings have served us well over the years, but as we look to the future we are facing the need for remodeling and repairs. The pre-school program at LCS gives our youngest students an excellent preparation for kindergarten and a chance to experience education grounded in faith.  This capital campaign will allow us to expand the preschool space, create an indoor play environment and increase enrollment.  As pre-school moves into the art room, studio arts will move into a new and larger area across from the cafeteria. The capital campaign will also provide the funds to create a student center across from the chapel where high school students can meet and study.  The creation of the student center will include and upgrade the exterior of the chapel which will allow a clear view of the beautiful worship space. The Fitzgerald Campus is held dear in the hearts of former and current athletes and actors. To continue the fine tradition of exemplary athletics and drama, Capital Campaign funds will be used to update the gymnasium, install new bleachers, and remodel the theatre.  The capital campaign will allow us to:

  • Create a commons area and art center, and renovate the entrance of our chapel at the Good Counsel Campus
  • Move our current art room and create additional pre-school space for growth and a much needed indoor play area
  • Install a sprinkler system at the Good Counsel Campus
  • Replace outdated bleachers, and update our gymnasium and theatre at our Fitzgerald Campus
  • Replace flooring, lights, and ceilings at both campuses with a focus on energy efficiency

Loyola’s tradition of academic excellence has been and will continue to be our focus.  As educators we will evaluate curriculum and class offerings to meet the needs of all students and offer an education that will prepare every student for life beyond Loyola.  This campaign, along with innovative scheduling, will allow us to expand our class offerings and provide added staff development for teachers.  With this campaign we plan to extend this tradition by:

  • Increasing number of electives available to our high school students
  • Bringing back the industrial arts program
  • Providing staff development to ensure our teachers have access to current trends and best practices in education

In today’s world there are many difficulties that families face.  One of these may be the financial strain of sending a child to a private school. To ease the burden on those families, one of the goals of this campaign is to increase the amount of short-term and long-term dollars available for financial aid.  Our long-term goals for financial assistance will be addressed by investing 10% of dollars raised in this campaign with the Schola Foundation.  Immediate needs for financial assistance will be met with funds raised in the capital campaign.
